Evan Rachel Wood was conceived in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 7th 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a theater actor writer, director and writer, as is her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. Her brothers older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who are also actors. Evan as well as her brothers appeared at Theatre In The Park, Raleigh which is where her father is the executive director. She was five when she auditioned for the part in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). With her parents and brother Ira the family moved to Los Angeles in 1996.
