Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who works as a nurse
as well as Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture movers. She
is of English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish descent. Rachel began acting at
thirteen. She was already appearing in Shakespearean plays at the summer
theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in
Theater. Following her TV debut in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998,
Rachel starred in Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy-drama
follows the struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. The actress was awarded
the Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. The role she played in Mean Girls
(2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the list of Hollywood's most
sought-after of promising young actors. After that film she was cast opposite
Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a hit in the box office and quickly
became the leading romantic drama for a new generation of movie lovers. After
filming, McAdams and Gosling became romantically linked and began dating
through mid-2007. McAdams is next in film with the comedy Wedding Crashers
(2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), as well as the holiday-themed drama The Family
Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent film with Married Life (2007)
which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival. It also included Pierce
Brosnan and Chris Cooper in addition to Patricia Clarkson. She also starred in
the military drama The Lucky Ones (2007) and the newspaper thriller State of
Play (2009), and the romance The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) was the next film
to follow, and she then starred opposite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy
Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams played the
role of the confident producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played
Owen Wilson's wife, a materialistic one in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams
then returned to the world of romantic dramas in The Vow (2012) with Channing
Tatum. McAdams is a part of Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) along with
Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma’s thriller Passion (2012).
